A lot of fans really love this guy. I think young is dumb:

Many will remember this year’s American Century Championship for Tony Romo’s valiant efforts and Rick Rhoden’s continued dominance of the tournament, but the big, bright shining star of Saturday’s action was a six-foot dong peeking over Michael Jordan’s shoulder.

And the crew at Busted Coverage tracked down the owner of said dong, who was merely a wayward young woman at a bachelorette party. Here’s her very enthusiastic, exclamation point-filled explanation she gave Busted Coverage. Sic’d obviously:

I was chased on the beach by a woman sherriff who told me to hand over the “inflatable penis”, this was AFTER the bachelorette, Sam, rushed MJ on the green with the inflatable penis.

MJ was hysterically laughing.

We ran back to where we were standing and a male cop was coming over to talk to us so the bachelorette handed it over to me and everyone started yelling “RUN” so I ran over to where MJ was putting and started to jump up and down.

That was the shot that you got and was on tv.

I guess the network called the sheriff to get that inflatable penis!!.

I went back over to where the bachelorette was and they told me to run away again because I was really being pursued and out of no where a woman cop starts chasing me, so I run down to the water to throw it in the water, and at this moment everyone on the beach is watching and yelling at me to throw it in the water!

So I do!!

I am soooo not a rebel but I was under pressure and the cop was like” I could arrest you for that” and I said oh please dont!

so she tells me to grab it out of the water and deflate it…which I start to do, but I am taking my time..and just as I was about to open the hole to let the air out a friend runs up to us and takes it from me and jumps in the water and swims back to the boat. !!

That was HILARIOUS.. SO the cop and I and another girl are just standing there and I apologize to her and tell her how good she looks with a gun and we walk back to heckle tony romo. I am married and it was my future sister in law’s bachelorette party.

Meanwhile back at the boat, where the rest of 24 girl bachelorette party was, harbor police comes up the to 5 boat barge and tells the girls that “they might as well have a sign that says stupid bachelorette party ” and that we are all ” stupid dumb girls” all becuz of the inflatable penis” and that people have been calling in and complaining.

HE THREATEND to breathalize the people on the boat if we didnt deflate it. SO the girls ont he boat had to deflate it and by that time we had to return the boats to the rental place. We were the talk of the town.!

So to recap: fun-loving ladies frolic on beach with large inflatable penis, “take a run at” the greatest basketball player ever with it, are chased by sheriff so try to ditch inflatable penis in the ocean, and are then ordered to deflate after threats of an on-site sobriety test by a Tahoe sheriff. Per the request of NBC, supposedly.

After all that, why do I get the feeling more inflatable penises will be infiltrating televised sporting events in the near future? This is only the beginning.

Check out who is making news again - young! If You Believe They Put A Man On The Moon: Cubs vs. Phillies Preview, Monday 7/20, 6:05 CT. In the interest of saving time, we have a summary -

PHILADELPHIA — Arrived in Philadelphia about 1 pm this afternoon, in plenty of time to write this preview post before leaving for Citizens Bank Park. Today is, of course, the 40th anniversary of the date that humans first set foot on the moon. In an odd coincidence, the Cubs were also playing in Philadelphia on July 20, 1969 — they swept a doubleheader in the final day of a four-game series, during which they took three of four. Let’s hope for similar success in this three-game set. The Phillies are riding an eight-game winning streak, and have also won nine of their last ten games at Citizens Bank Park. It’s time to put an end to that.

It appears Jake Fox has once again impressed Lou to the point where Lou’s going to get him more playing time:

“I tell you what, the guy swings the bat,” Cubs manager Lou Piniella said, suggesting Fox will start in the outfield tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies, probably in place of Milton Bradley in right.

Fox has, in Lou’s mind, now been promoted from “the young man” to “the guy”. As far as Bradley is concerned, Lou still wants him to work on hitting from the left side:

Cubs manager Lou Piniella plans to take a turn soon at trying to solve Milton Bradley’s seasonlong hitting slump from the left side of the plate that neither Bradley nor two hitting coaches have cracked.

“I had a nice talk with Bradley Sunday,” Piniella said. “I’m going to work with him personally for a while and see if we can get him going.”

That likely means benching Bradley tonight for the opener of a three-game series at Philadelphia and possibly Tuesday. The Phillies have righties scheduled both days.

Well, that’s just great. One more game played this year and we will be paying $21 million in 2010 and 2011… for a platoon right fielder.

Rodrigo Lopez — I mean, seriously, Rodrigo Lopez? Man, the Phillies must be desperate. He hadn’t pitched in the majors since 2007 when they signed him and his last good year was 2004. The last time he faced the Cubs was in 2007, when he was with the Rockies, and they hit him early and often. Now 33 years old, he has made two starts for the Phillies and pitched decently in both of them… but c’mon, he’s Rodrigo Lopez. This could be a really good thing for Alfonso Soriano, who faced Lopez many times when they were both in the AL East. Soriano is 12-for-35 (.343) vs. Lopez with 3 doubles and 3 HR.

Ted Lilly was running around the outfield in Nationals Park over the weekend with seemingly no ill effects from the knee problem which pushed his start back till today. His last start vs. the Phillies was on August 30, 2008 at Wrigley Field, where he gave up three runs in six innings but the Cubs lost 5-2. Lifetime he is 1-3, 4.88 in four starts vs. the Phils. The best Philly hitter vs. Ted is Pedro Feliz (4-for-13, 2 HR).

The Cubs are back on cable today — but the game is also being picked up by ESPN for national distribution, for those of you outside the Chicago area. For other games today see the MLB.com Mediacenter.

I love it when I see news about Wilson -

The Red Sox, even with ”Rescue Me” star Daniel Sunjata in the house, were not able to extinguish the red-hot flames emanating from the right arm of Roy Halladay.  With trade rumors continuing to circulate, Doc may have filled out his final prescription in a Jays overcoat by going the distance in a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon at the Rog Mahal.

The Red Sox got to Halladay early but not often.  A sac fly by David Ortiz scored Dustin Pedroia in the top of the first to give the Beantowners a 1-0 lead.  Pedroia got aboard on an infield single to second after Doc deflected the ball before going to third on a double by Kevin Youkilis.  “Youk” also went to third on the sac fly to right but he was stranded when Alex Rios snared a deep fly ball at the wall in centre to rob Jason Bay of extra bases.  If Rios put a little extra mustard on his leap, it would’ve been a good impersonation of Devon White’s catch against the fence in Game 3 of the 1992 World Series.

Halladay got a lead to work when his battery mate Rod Barajas delivered a two-out, two-run double off lefty Jon Lester to score a pair of walks by Lyle Overbay and Rios in the bottom of the second.  The Red Sox got a pair of one-out base knocks by Pedroia and Youkilis in the third but Big Papi bounced into a fielder’s choice by somehow beating the relay to first.  Bay then flied out to center to end the frame.  That was the start of nine in a row set down by Doc before Ortiz singled with one out in the sixth.  However, Halladay took care of the next two hitters to end the frame.  In the home half of the sixth, Barajas came through again with a sac fly to drive home a Overbay double.  It was also the second time B.A. bailed out Kevin Millar as he failed to drive the ball out of the infield.  I guess he’ll always be a Red Sock at heart!

That proved to be more than enough for Halladay, who finished the game by setting down the last 11 hitters in a row.  He put the punctuation mark on his outing by striking out Jacoby Ellsbury to end the game.  The fans went bananas and as much as I want to believe it was all for Doc, it was really because he racked up seven strikeouts to give the 36,000-plus in attendance a free slice of pizza.

Every Jays starter had a hit or a walk save for Millar and Aaron Hill.  At least Hill hit the ball on a couple of occasions but the BABIP gods are working against him as his average falls to .284.  He did manage to steal a base after reaching on a fielder’s choice and Rios also pilfered second.  Vernon Wells sat out again with a stomach flu.

The Jays have Monday off.  They’ll open up a three game set against the Indians at the Dome Tuesday.  It’ll be all lefties on the mound for the Jays with Brett Cecil, Ricky Romero and Marc Rzepczynski.  Thursday’s game is an afternoon tilt at 12:37 p.m.  The other two are the usual 7:07 start times.

=====

In TDIB notes for this Monday…..

J.A. Happ pitches the Phillies to an eighth straight win.

Jason Marquis? is one “W” ahead of Doc for the major league lead as he wins his 12th for the Rox.

*  Former Jay Felipe Lopez is now a Brewer.

*  Pirates infielders Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson are one step closer to walking the plank.

Look who is in this news - young! Long Dark Teatime of the Soul Approaches. For you convenience,

The Blue Jays’ attempt to build acontending team has failed.

2008 was our best chance and the yearwe needed to make every effort to win. If not for the injury to AaronHill, which prolonged the misguided Johnny Mac experiment, managementmight have pulled the trigger on a few mid-season deals for a pennantpush. As it was, the Jays hung around the fringes of the race andcouldn’t keep pace with their rich neighbours and the surging Rays.

With the departure of AJ Burnett, andno significant talent flowing into the organisation, it was clear toall but the rose-coloured glasses lot that the hot start this seasonmerely masked reality.

What looms for Blue Jays fans for theforeseeable future is one of two scenarios. The first, and moreprobable, is a slow descent. The core of the team ages and there arenot enough spare parts and prospects to fill the holes. This would bein keeping with JP Ricciardi’s methods his greatest strengthbeing the acquisition of under-appreciated talent.

The second scenario involves blowing upthe team by trading away the key players (with the exception of AaronHill) for a collection of B+ and B prospects, with (hopefully) theodd grade A variety in the mix. Not likely given Ricciardi’s penchantfor caution on the trade front, but he may yet surprise.

The long decline scenario is moreprobable because of bullpen depth and a bountiful crop of back end ofthe rotation guys. Not enough talent to contend, but enough to avoidbeing truly miserable. Hitting prospects are a lot thinner on theground, which is why the Jays should try to obtain at least one gradeA hitter in any Halladay trade.

Tough Neighbourhood:

Context is king in baseball, and thefact that the Jays must compete in the AL East and not the ALCentral, makes the dark teatime phase inevitable. Let us survey thenear future of the toughest division in baseball …

The Red Sox are the most enviableorganisation in baseball. They have a stadium which generatesexceptional revenue, a super-smart front office, elite players intheir prime and more quality young pitchers without a spot in therotation than any other team in baseball.

The Yankees are (of course) obscenelywealthy and are getting smarter. Despite the gradual decline of keymembers of the offense (Jeter, Posada, Damon, A-Rod) they have theresources to fill in holes as the appear

The Rays still have a great young core, and have been able to fill out the roster with useful players.

The Orioles have the making of aserviceable if not great starting rotation with youngsters Tillman,Arrieta and Matusz. They also have a group of young hitters (Jones,Markakis, Wieters and Reimold) that will form the core of a solidoffense for years to come. This team could gel in a hurry andpossibly put together a miracle run in 2010 reminiscent of the2008 Rays.

That leaves our beloved Blue Jays:young talent inferior to the Rays or Orioles, and financial resourceswhich pale beside the Sox and Yanks.

The Endgame.

So what happens after a series of 5thplace finishes, declining attendance (again), and a revolving doorof spare parts mixed in with the occasional exciting player?

Welcome to the world of the Oakland A’s that would be the happy outcome. If our next general managerisn’t as bright as the current man, following in the Pirates’footsteps could be our fate. If the team remains financiallyneglected, its relocation will cease to be an unthinkable nightmare.Possibly the only way out is the appearance of a white knight withdeep pockets.

A few years ago I would never haveimagined I’d come around to this, but what this team needs most issomeone like George Steinbrenner.

.

How do you think this news about young will affect the rest of the team this season?

The Iowa Cubs were silenced by the Nashville Sounds, 4-1.

I wonder how Young’s fans feel -

They say it’s important to live without regret. And one thing Young Bill Ligue does not regret is thrashing an old man on the field at Comiskey Park when he was 15. You just can’t manufacture those kinds of memories.

Few moments in sports history were as truly stunning as the sight fans saw on September 19, 2002, when two shirtless buffoons charged onto the field during a Chicago-Kansas City game and began pummeling the Royals’ 54-year-old first base coach Tom Gamboa. It turned out to be a father and son team—William Ligue Jr. and his loyal 15-year-old boy—who were hauled off, surly and unrepentant, into baseball history. And also jail.

Now surely a brush with the law at such a young age—plus the worldwide public embarrassment—would have scared the 15-year-old youngster straight. Surely he wouldn’t want to end up like his troubled, drug-addled father? Then again ….

The boy—who I assume is William The III—is now 22 and looking at his MySpace (or course) page it doesn’t take long to see that starting a brawl at a baseball game is the crowing achievement of his short life. (After “anticipatin” the birth of his “shorty.”) One of the pictures in his album is a screen shot of the incident with the caption: “ME AND DAD FUCKIN UP THA COACH FA THA KANSAS CITY ROYALS.” Charming.

The rest sort of speaks for itself, but it’s always amusing to see white boys make liberal use the word “nigga” as they rap about all the cash money they don’t actually possess. Oh, did I mention he has his own “record label.” I’m not sure I’ve heard any of these tracks on BET, but they show a lot of promise. If only there was more “green” to be made in hooliganism.

Oh, in case you’re wondering … Dad and the White Sox are still in the picture, although his bling suggests a certain confusion about the makeup of the AL Central. Still, it warms the heart to think that someday soon three generations of tattooed goons can go to the ballpark together and mug a third-base coach.

My vote for MVP this year goes to young -

Yesterday a video posted on the site NSFW POA (NSFW, obvs.) hinted that a naked blonde woman videotaped through a hotel peephole was a popular sports personality. ESPN lawyers quickly pounced.

The video’s been removed, after blog proprietor Doug Sheckler (Epic Carnival, On205th) received a strongly-worded letter from ESPN attorney David Pahl:

I am the General Counsel of ESPN, Inc. It has come to my attention that you have posted on your site pictures of a young, blonde woman at http://www.nsfwpoa.com/2009/07/hot-naked-blonde-who-looks-lot-like.html. These pictures were obviously taken through a peephole or otherwise in a fashion constituting a trespass/assault on the rights of the woman involved. Your continued posting of these pictures are highly likely to render you an accessory after the fact to a criminal act. We hereby demand that you (i) immediately remove these pictures from your site and (ii) disclose to us the source of the pictures. We intend to hold you fully responsible for further display of material that so obviously violates the law.

Please confirm by return e-mail that you intend to comply with these demands. In the absence of such confirmation we will assume you are an active and willing participant in these acts.

David Pahl

Sheckler won’t reveal the source of the original videos, but what makes ESPN’s swift action especially notable is that, in his original post, there was no mention of ESPN or the name of the person being illegally and creepily watched. The verbiage on the post was actually “Hot naked blonde who looks a lot like a sports blogger favorite in her hotel room.” But ESPN is obviously not taking any chances, even if the video turns out to be a well-constructed fake. We’re still waiting for a statement from ESPN about the whole ordeal and any further legal action they plan to take.

Nobody can top jones nowadays,

We compared the Las Vegas Journal Review’s massive feature on the Minxx strip club incident to the Warren Report, but now we finally have the Zapruder Film. Video (that’s probably not safe work) of Adam “Pacman” Jones making it rain.

We’ve pulled just a small teaser sample, but you should really go their website and see the whole thing. (Multimedia people!) It’s rated NSFW for language and very brief partial nudity. If you need something more censored, there’s some footage at ESPN.

The video shot by an unknown “guest” on February 19, 2007, shows Jones with his magical money backpack and GIANT stacks of one dollar bills. He makes it rain all right. About 50 strippers completely cover the dance floor, filling a bucket with the discarded singles. At one point, the music stops and producer Jermaine Dupri gets on the DJ mic to scold the dancers because they’ve stopped dancing in order to collect the loot. Then at the very end, the rapper Nelly appears, also playing rainmaker, realizes that he would prefer not be filmed and the cameraman stops rolling. It was shortly after this that the infamous brawl started.

So there you go. Real actual of footage of strip club rain. It does exist in nature.

Full schedule again tonight.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs scored six in the seventh and five in the eighth to triumph over the cacophony of the Nashville Sounds, 11-4.

Esmailin Caridad started and allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out three.

Justin Berg got his fourth win with an inning of scoreless relief. A runner reached on an error, but Berg promptly got the next batter to hit into a double play to end the inning.

First baseman Matt Craig hit home run number four, a three-run homer, in that six-run seventh. Craig went 2 for 4 and scored twice.

Second baseman Nate Spears didn’t enter the game until the sixth inning, but he was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBI. Right fielder So Taguchi was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Aaron Miles was 0 for 3 in his rehab start.

Tennessee Smokies

The Smokies blotted out the Jacksonville Suns, 9-2.

Jeremy Papelbon had a great start tonight, allowing only one run on three hits over five innings. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out five. But Alex Maestri got the win with a perfect inning of relief, striking out one.

Catcher Welington Castillo has had a miserable season, but tonight he banged out three hits, including two doubles, in five at bats. He scored once and had three RBI.

Third baseman Marquez Smith went 2 for 3 with two walks. He had three RBI and scored once. Center fielder James Adduci was 2 for 4 with a walk and a run scored. He also stole a base.

Daytona Cubs

The Daytona Cubs fell to the Tampa Yankees, 5-3.

Starter Dan McDaniel saw his record fall to 5-7 by allowing four runs on eight hits over five innings. McDaniel also walked three and struck out one. One of the four runs was unearned, but it was his error, so he can’t complain.

Center fielder Tony Campana and Robinson Chirinos were both 2 for 3. Chirinos also drew a walk and Campana earned himself an umpire ejection in the fifth inning.

Peoria Chiefs

The Chiefs were flooded by the West Michigan Whitecaps, 11-7.

Marcus Hatley’s evening only lasted two innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits, including two home runs. He failed to strike anyone out and walked one.

Chris Siegfried took the loss in relief. He gave up four runs on five hits over 2.2 innings. Siegfried walked three and struck out two.

First baseman Rebel Ridling was 2 for 4 with his ninth home run of the year.  Ridling scored once and had two RBI. He also walked once.

Right fielder Kyler Burke hit his third homer in the seventh inning. Burke was 2 for 5 with two runs scored and the one RBI.

Catcher Michael Brenly was 2 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored, but Bob will probably be bragging about him stealing home tonight. It was the back end of a double-steal with shortstop Junior Lake taking second base. Lake was 2 for 4 with a run.

Second baseman Ryan Flaherty was 2 for 5.

Boise Hawks

The Hawks’ offense exploded tonight in a 14-5 drubbing of the Yakima Bears.

Starter Josh Whitlock got his first start of the season tonight and he made it a great one. Whitlock only allowed one hit in four shutout innings. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out four. He didn’t get the win because he didn’t go five, so the win went to Eduardo Figueroa, who allowed two runs over two innings. Does that rule make sense to anyone?

When June ended, Logan Watkins was hitting .231. After he went 5 for 6 tonight with a double, his average has risen to .344. Watkins scored three times and had one RBI. Watkins is 16 for 23 over the past five games. I think that’s what they mean by “in a zone.”

Shortstop Hak-Ju Lee was 3 for 5 with a double and a triple. Lee had four RBI and scored twice. Second baseman George Matheus was 3 for 5 and scored twice.

Center fielder Brett Jackson was only 1 for 2, but he walked four times. It wasn’t the opposing pitchers either, since the rest of the Hawks only had one walk.

First baseman Justin Bour homered for the first time for Boise. He was 2 for 4 with a walk. He scored twice and had two RBI.

Catcher Richard Jones had a double and four RBI in a 2 for 6 game. Right fielder Jae-Hoon Ha was 2 for 5 with a run scored.

AZL Cubs

Beat the Padres, 5-4.
